Starpack – Herbie
An answer to a Starpack brief, which was to create a “grow your own herb kit”. I focused my response on 18-35 year old in inner cities, bracket consisting of both students and families primarily living in flats. My solution was a cute and fun character called “Herbie”. In order to properly answer the brief, I would have to create an industry-ready piece of work. In doing this I had to keep in mind that the packaging has to be strong, with stand water, and be fun. The biggest challenge with this piece was keeping it strong while also keeping the face lifting mechanism free and easy to use. In addition to the mechanism, I included a recipe on it to help the audience appreciate the herb itself. I generated a small series of characters for my Herbie project. Each character holds a different herb and plays with the nationality of the cuisine that tends to use that herb most. This is my final mock-up for the starpack entry. This was sent as part of my entry into the competition along with research boards explaining my thinking.
